Marchesi-de-frescobaldiFLORENCE, ITALY – Marchesi De’ Frescobaldi, the Tuscan group famous in the world for its prestigious wines of quality, recorded in 2011 a turnover of 82 million euros, an increase of +4% compared to 79.6 million euros in 2010 . The realization of this result has accounted for over 60% share in exports, especially to Russia and Asia.

Italy, however, has suffered most from this crisis in consumption at the continental level, but despite this our country still scored a growth of +3.3% compared to 2010, generating revenues of more than 34 million euros.

To respond to the crisis, the Florentine company has continued its strategy of modernizing and strengthening its production structure, investing only in 2011 over 10 million euros in research & development to renew their vineyards and their plant and equipment, adopting the most modern techniques productive.

“These results – says Giovanni Geddes Filicaja – are added to those of 2010 and confirm that the italian quality wine sector is vital, despite this moment of economic difficulties. In these first months of 2012 the signs of recovery were seen in Italy, despite a rather sluggish start. By exports – concludes the group managing director – are arriving encouraging signs that make us look more and more international markets as growth opportunities..”
