The new fountain will be built of a side door, in the outer wall of the Palazzo Vecchio, between the entrances of the Hall of Arms and the Town Hall. Publiacqua promises that will be ready very soon.
The old fountain was very popular (up to 100,000 liters supplied per month), but it obscured the view of the back of the fountain of Neptune.
“To place in an extraordinary setting the new fountain – says the chairman of Publiacqua, Erasmo D’Angelis – we started a detailed analysis of possible new locations considering the water intake pipes present. During the verification it was discovered the restyling of the small fake brick walls, built between the entrances of the Hall of Arms and the Town Hall. It was built to wall a small door that once led into an area of service. We decided to use the top for installation, redeveloping the entire wall recovering materials and original colors of the Palazzo Vecchio. It will be avoided even the slightest exception to the protection of the historic landscape of the square.”
