Art&Tourism, a new key event at the Fortezza

FLORENCE, ITALY – Art&Tourism is the first international fair dedicated to culture and art tourism, and will be held from 18th- 20th May, 2012, in the Fortezza Da Basso, Florence, Italy.

This new appointment, with no equivalent in the trade fair scenery worldwide, will gather in the heart of Italy the best national and international cultural offers and the main tour operators, in line with the most recent market figures, estimating a record 300 million tourists visiting so called “cultural” destinations each year.

The objective of bringing to Florence 400 highly professional international buyers interested in purchasing the cultural and artistic offer on show in the Tuscan city, has almost been reached, 321 international tour operators have pre-registered. Art&Tourism is organized by Ttg, Rimini fiera, in partnership with Regione Toscana and Firenze fiera.

Richard Armstrong, the director of the prestigious Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York appreciates Art&Tourism. “I believe that an event of this importance – declared the director – should definitely arouse the interest of both public and private bodies. But that is not enough. It is vital that there are specific people capable of running large-scale initiatives such as Art&Tourism. Such a role falls above all to the young professionals in the field, who must be committed to carrying out this work in the future in an innovate way”.

According to Armstrong, “Art&Tourism certainly plays a key role as a container for all such issues, and that’s why promotion demands particular attention, it addition it serves as a showcase for the wealth of culture to be found in Italy. Florence is the ideal starting point.”
