The open-air cinema at Villa Bardini will return this summer, offering 50 consecutive evenings of screenings from 10 July to 30 August 2026 on the Belvedere Terrace overlooking Florence. The programme brings together recent Italian and international films, family-friendly events, films in their original language and special evenings featuring guest directors.
Organised by Fondazione CR Firenze in collaboration with Fondazione Parchi Monumentali Bardini e Peyron, the festival is curated by Associazione Musart and Fondazione Stensen.
Screenings begin at 9.15 p.m. Standard admission is €5, while selected Italian and European productions included in the national Cinema Revolution initiative will cost €3.50.
Every Thursday, the venue will host Cinema in Family, offering free admission for audiences of all ages with advance booking required. This year’s family programme includes How to Train Your Dragon, Unicorni, Jurassic World – Rebirthand Moon the Panda.
The programme also features two evenings connected with the exhibition “Florence in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s”, currently on display at Villa Bardini through photographs from the Archivio Foto Locchi. Cinema ticket holders can visit the exhibition with a 50% discount and access the Belvedere Terrace from 7 p.m. for an aperitivo before the screenings.
Among the opening highlights is Gioia mia by Margherita Spampinato on 10 July, followed by Academy Award-winning productions including Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another on 14 July and Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, screened in its original language with Italian subtitles on 24 July.
Two directors will also introduce their films in person. Federico Micali will present Le chiavi di una storia – La comunità dell’Isolotto on 13 July, while Laura Samani will introduce Un anno di scuola on 1 August.
The first part of the programme, covering screenings until 6 August, has already been released. The remaining schedule, from 7 to 30 August, will be announced later in July.
Given the popularity of previous editions, advance booking is recommended. Visitors with disabilities are asked to reserve in advance due to limited availability. Free parking will be available at Forte di Belvedere, while the cinema entrance is located at Costa San Giorgio 2.
