New Year’s Eve 2026 in Florence: transport and parking for the night of 31 December

As Florence prepares to welcome 2026 with free events in several central squares, the city has confirmed a package of measures aimed at easing mobility on the night of 31 December. These include continuous operation of the tramway, extended bus services, special night shuttles and discounted parking rates.

ZTL: continuous restrictions until the morning of 1 January

The Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) will be active without interruption from 7.30 a.m. on Wednesday 31 December until 8.00 a.m. on Thursday 1 January.
Unlike previous years, there will be no temporary suspension of the ZTL during the evening.

The usual daytime rules apply in sectors A, B and O, with telematic gates switched on.
Residents will be allowed to circulate with a second vehicle if the licence plate is already listed on their paper permit. Vehicles authorised for the night-time ZTL scheme may also enter.

Public transport: buses reinforced, tramway running all night

Tramway (T1 and T2)

Florence’s tramway network will operate non-stop throughout the night on both lines:

Trams will run every 10 minutes on both lines. This year, following the activation of the VACS section, the T2 line terminates at Piazza San Marco.

Bus services

The public bus network managed by Autolinee Toscane will also be reinforced.

Last departures (approximate times):

Passengers are reminded that a valid ticket is required on both buses and trams, purchasable via apps, contactless payment on board, vending machines or SMS.

Parking: park-and-ride and discounted city garages

To encourage the use of public transport, Florence will keep several park-and-ride car parks open overnight, directly connected to the tramway network:

In addition, city-centre garages managed by Firenze Parcheggi will offer discounted evening rates:
€1 per hour from 6.00 p.m. to midnight, provided payment is made using the BMOVE app.

The reduced rate applies at Santa Maria Novella, Parterre, Sant’Ambrogio, Oltrarno, Porta a Prato, Binario 16 SMN, Fortezza, Beccaria and San Lorenzo car parks.

Advice for the night

With large crowds expected around Piazza Santa CrocePiazza della SignoriaPiazza Santissima Annunziata and Piazza del Carmine, the city recommends:
