Halloween takes over Florence: from haunted villas to techno nights

Once considered a foreign import, Halloween has now become part of Florence’s cultural calendar: a night when the city sheds its Renaissance elegance for something darker, louder, and a little more mysterious. Across the city and beyond, clubs, villas, museums and restaurants are preparing for a weekend of eerie fun and creative celebrations.

Among the most anticipated events is the Lattexplus Festival at the Stazione Leopolda, where electronic duo Modeselektor will headline a visually and sonically powerful night following their first performance at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The festival continues to connect Florence’s architectural landmarks with cutting-edge sound and light design.

For those looking for a more traditional party atmosphere, options abound. Otel promises an extravagant “Fabulous Halloween Edition,” The Space Club hosts a student-friendly night that goes on until dawn, and The Hoxton Hotel teams up with Ciao Discoteca Italiana for a stylish mix of cocktails and music.

In the countryside near Prato, the Villa Medicea di Artimino turns its historic halls into a surreal, mysterious setting, while in the city’s Oltrarno district, the Limonaia di Villa Strozzi transforms into a tropical nightmare with its “Isla Bonita” theme.

Families and culture lovers will find something special too. The Museo Stibbert opens its doors for “Knights in the Night,” a spooky evening among armors and antique weapons, and the Mercato Centrale offers a couple’s cooking class inspired by Halloween flavors, complete with tastings and wine.

Restaurants join in the fun as well: Hard Rock Cafe Firenze stages a murder-mystery dinner, while Tijuana on Via il Prato celebrates for three nights with its Día de los Muertos–inspired parties, full of color, rhythm and Mexican spirit.
