From September 16 to November 1, 2025, the Roberto Casamonti Collection will showcase a special exhibition dedicated to flowers through the works of three great 20th-century masters: Chaïm Soutine, Filippo de Pisis and Marc Chagall.
The exhibition, titled Les Fleurs, brings together three different artistic visions of a timeless subject. On display will be Bouquet de rose à la statue de piatre (1918) by Soutine, Vaso di fiori in un interno (ca. 1945) by de Pisis, and Fleurs dans un vase bleu (1936) by Chagall. Each work highlights the artists’ unique sensibility, from the intensity of Soutine’s brushstrokes to the refined stillness of de Pisis and the dreamlike lyricism of Chagall.
The initiative is part of the museum’s ongoing project to reintroduce works from the first section of the collection, which features art from the early 20th century to the 1960s. Every month, new pieces are rotated out of storage and placed on view, creating a dynamic dialogue with the second section of the collection, dedicated to art from the 1960s to the present day.
Since opening in 2018 on the noble floor of Palazzo Bartolini Salimbeni, a Renaissance palace by Baccio d’Agnolo in Piazza Santa Trinita, the Roberto Casamonti Collection has offered visitors an extensive overview of both Italian and international modern art. Alongside Soutine, de Pisis and Chagall, the broader permanent display features names such as Boetti, Schifano, Miró, Basquiat, Warhol and Christo.
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 7 pm (last admission 6:30 pm). The museum is closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays.
