ACF Fiorentina is ready to embark on a 12-day tour in England, where the team will face a trio of Premier League sides as part of its pre-season preparations. The squad, led by head coach Stefano Pioli, is set to depart today.
The first stop on the tour will be St George’s Park National Football Center in Staffordshire (pictured) – often referred to as the “English Coverciano” – where the team will continue its training camp. Fiorentina will then move to Leicester, which will serve as their base until August 8.
The friendly schedule includes matches against Leicester City on August 3, Nottingham Forest on August 5, and a high-profile clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 9.
The tour comes after a positive start to pre-season at Viola Park, where Fiorentina won all three of their initial friendlies – against the club’s Primavera side, Grosseto, and Carrarese. The English tour will offer Pioli a clearer view of the team’s progress ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, on the transfer front, Frank Kessie remains the top midfield target. The former Milan player, who previously worked under Pioli, is currently at Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, where his €14 million salary poses a significant obstacle. Nevertheless, Fiorentina continues to explore its options, with Welnus Sohm from Parma among the names reportedly under consideration.
