New E-Bikes with Child Seats in Bike Sharing Program

Florence is taking another step forward in promoting sustainable mobility with a new initiative aimed at families. Starting yesterday, the city introduced the first ten of fifty Ridemovi e-bikes equipped with rear child seats, designed for the safe transport of children weighing up to 20 kg. The goal is to make the bike-sharing service more inclusive and accessible to parents with young children, encouraging the everyday use of bicycles in the city.

The new e-bikes can be easily identified on the Ridemovi app thanks to a dedicated icon and are available for rental at the same rates as other bikes in the fleet. This feature provides a practical solution for families who prefer sustainable mobility but, until now, lacked options for traveling with their children.

Andrea Giorgio, the city’s mobility councilor and a strong advocate for the use of bicycles as a daily means of transport, highlighted the added value this initiative brings to both residents and visitors. He emphasized that the program contributes to reducing traffic congestion and pollution. With the growing success of the bike-sharing service, Florence continues to position itself as an ideal city for cycling.

The addition of child seats makes e-bikes even more accessible to families, offering a convenient and sustainable way to navigate the city safely. It’s a significant step towards creating a mobility system that meets the diverse needs of all its users.
