PISA, ITALY – The Palazzo Blu in Pisa will host a significant exhibition on the renowned Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai from October 24, 2024, to February 23, 2025. The show will display over 200 works, including iconic pieces like “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” alongside lesser-known artworks such as surimono prints and scroll paintings. The exhibition highlights Hokusai’s blend of Japanese and Western techniques, as well as his influence on both historic and contemporary artists, featuring a modern immersive work by TeamLab.

Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) was one of Japan’s most influential and celebrated artists, best known for his mastery of ukiyo-e, a genre of woodblock prints and paintings. His iconic work “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” is globally recognized and symbolizes his innovative approach to landscape art. Hokusai was known for blending traditional Japanese techniques with Western influences, creating a dynamic and unique style. His subjects varied from landscapes, flora, and fauna to ghosts and mythological scenes, leaving a lasting legacy on both Japanese and Western art traditions.
