FLORENCE, ITALY – The hospital Santa Maria Annunziata (Ponte a Niccheri) remains the only Covid hospital in the Florentine area. Yesterday afternoon the department of Covid at the San Giovanni di Dio hospital (Torregalli) has closed.
With 13 ordinary hospitalisation beds and 6 beds available in intensive care, the hospital Ponte a Niccheri has completely converted its covid 19 department to general medicine and has left only one, Medicine E, with 13 bed available for Covid patients.
The latest pandemic wave it had reached up to 86 ordinary hospitalisation beds. Another hospital in the metropolitan city that remains available for Covid patients is the Serristori of Figline Valdarno with 15 ordinary hospitalisation beds in Medicine B.
Last week the last Covid department in Santa Maria Nuova hospital, in the city centre, had also closed, both for ordinary hospitalisation and intensive care. In recent days, the last Covid department in Careggi, an university hospital had also closed.
