Gelato Festival at Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence

FLORENCE, ITALY – The Gelato Festival caravan arrives once more in Florence: the 2017 edition is in town from April 21st to 25th.

Ice cream is part of the history of Florence. It seems that Bernardo Buontalenti, an artist of the Medici court, was the inventor of the Italian gelato here in Florence in the 16th Century. And Florence is the city where also the Gelato Festival was born.

Piazzale Michelangelo is the confirmed location where you can taste the best and most innovative products of the Italian master ice-cream makers while admiring Florence from the most famous panoramic viewpoint of the city.

During the four days a series of workshops, lessons, meetings and presentations will illustrate the world of handmade ice-cream and will make the festival experience even more enjoyable and instructive.

The technical jury and the audience will select the best flavour among the ice-cream makers participating in each leg, each one of them presenting a unique original flavour exclusively for the Gelato Festival.

The ticket allows a series of tastings and gives you the chance to vote for your favourite flavour and help it get to the finals of the Gelato Festival, the event that will close the 2017 edition of the festival in Florence from September 14th to 17th.
