FLORENCE, ITALY – Fiorentina have said that they will present Paulo Sousa as their new coach on Monday June 22, 2015. The 44-year-old Portuguese replaces Vincenzo Montella, who was sacked earlier this month after relations with the Florence club’s management broke down.

The much-travelled Sousa recently left Swiss side Basel. He has also coached Maccabi Tel Aviv, Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City and Leicester City.

As a player, the former Portugal midfielder won the Champions League with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund. Former Italy forward Montella led the Florence club to three consecutive fourth-place finishes in Serie A after taking over in 2012, as well as taking them to the Italian Cup final last year and the Europa League semi-finals in the season just ended. Montella annoyed Fiorentina by allegedly failing to firmly commit to the club, after being linked to other sides.
