FLORENCE, ITALY – Italy striker Mario Balotelli suffered racist abuse at Coverciano’s World Cup training camp in Florence on Wednesday.
A small group of young people outside the campus started singing chants when Balotelli was doing some warm-up runs with his teammates and one of them shouted bad words. Police intervened at this point.
The 23-year-old striker, who has Ghanaian roots and has been subject to racist abuse many times in his career, appeared visibly upset by the incident, but did not react.
