A charity auction in Prato will bring together works by some of the leading names of 20th-century Italian art to raise funds for projects supporting people with disabilities.
The initiative, titled Art at Auction for Inclusion, is organised by the Prato branch of the Italian Association for Assistance to Spastic People (AIAS) in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Prato and Pistoia and the Farsetti art gallery. The auction is scheduled for 15 May 2026 in Prato, a city about 25 kilometres northwest of Florence.
The sale includes engravings and graphic works from the historic collection of the national AIAS association. Around 50 Italian artists from the 1950s and 1960s are represented, including Renato Guttuso, Lucio Fontana, Carlo Carrà, Ardengo Soffici, Giacomo Manzù and Carlo Levi.
According to AIAS Prato president Luisa Peris, the goal is to transform an artistic heritage into practical support for social projects. Funds raised through the auction will help finance AIAS activities focused on autonomy and social inclusion for people with disabilities.
The collection includes figurative, landscape and abstract works, reflecting different artistic trends of post-war Italy. Organisers said the pieces also document an important period in the country’s cultural history, when Italian art was undergoing major experimentation and transformation after World War II.
AIAS, founded in 1954, is one of Italy’s main organisations supporting people with disabilities through rehabilitation, education and inclusion projects. The Prato branch works locally on social and assistance programmes for children and adults with disabilities.
The auction is open to collectors, art enthusiasts and members of the public interested in supporting the initiative. Organisers said the event aims to combine cultural heritage with a concrete solidarity effort benefiting the local community.
