After two years at Parco delle Cascine, the Florence Ferris wheel will return to the gardens of the Fortezza da Basso from December 2025 to April 2026, with a possible three-month extension. The City Council has approved the location in the garden area not affected by railway works, marking a comeback to the site where the attraction had already been installed during the winters of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
The installation will once again include a festive area with family-friendly activities and entertainment. The private operator, selected through a public tender in 2024, has been asked to submit a new project for the Fortezza site, which will then be reviewed by the Superintendency for approval before receiving final authorization to operate.
“The Fortezza da Basso will once again become a lively and beloved gathering place for residents and families,” said city councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Jacopo Vicini. “After two successful seasons at Parco delle Cascine, we’re bringing the Ferris wheel back to a place that holds a special meaning for Florentines. From Christmas through spring, it will bring light, joy, and a festive atmosphere to the city.”
