FLORENCE, ITALY – Culture ministers from the G7 group of advanced economies to hold two days of talks in Florence on March 30, 31, 2017. Who’s who at the Florence’s G7 of culture summit?

The G7 of Culture will be chaired by the Minister Dario Franceschini and will see the presence of the Canadian Minister Mélanie Joly, the French Minister Audrey Azoulay, the German Minister Maria Böhmer, the Japanese Minister Ryohei Miyata, the British minister Karen Bradley and US Secretary Bruce Whorton.

The summit, in Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Vecchio linked by the Vasari Corrdor, will be attended by the European Commissioner for Culture, Tibor Navracsis, and the Secretary-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova.

Numerous personalities from the world of international culture were invited, among them being the maestro Riccardo Muti, who will also direct a concert for the distinguished guests in the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio.

From US, ambassador Bruce Wharton, Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, will travel to Rome and Florence, Italy, March 29-31 to lead the U.S. delegation to the G-7 Culture Ministerial.

In Rome, Ambassador Wharton will meet with U.S. Embassy staff before traveling to Florence to participate in the first ever G-7 Culture Ministerial. He will be joined by officials from the Departments of State, Homeland Security, and Justice, as well as the Smithsonian Institution, for the two-day ministerial, which is focused on issues of cultural heritage preservation and protection.
