FLORENCE, ITALY – For lovers of paper, the creative process, art and design. On Saturday and Sunday, October 8th and 9th Oh My God Florence! hosts The Paper Workshop in the unforgettable setting of Ostello Tasso in via Villani in Florence.
Two days for students, professionals, enthusiasts and anyone with a desire to learn the techniques of manipulation and transformation of one of the world’s most generous materials: paper.
Diana Beltrán Herrera, an internationally famous artist and designer, will illustrate theory and guide participants through hands-on activities demonstrating the extraordinary adaptability of paper to the most diverse of shapes.
The artist works with common materials such as metal wire, cardboard, plastic and, most importantly, paper. Her paper sculptures represent diverse subjects, from astonishingly life-like birds, to insects, sh and plants. Her work has been shown both in group and personal exhibitions in Latin Ame- rica, Europe, Asia and the Unites States.
The workshop is a progressive process starting from speci c exercises on basic application in order for the participant to gain con dence and acquire manual dexterity with paper. The nal project will allow partici- pants to experiment, combining acquired techniques to create an original composition.
Both days of the workshop will end with a photo shoot that will allow the participants to document their work and paper creations, as both a way to share with others and add their work to their personal portfolio.
All work materials will be supplied by the organizers. There is an entrance fee for the workshop. The workshop is open to a limited number of participants.
