FLORENCE, ITALY – The Botticelli room in the Uffizi, closed for months for retrofitting, re-open on Tuesday October 18, 2016.
In the coming weeks the fitting works will begin, thanks to the donation of the non profit Foundation Friends of Florence.
The contribution of the Foundation has made possible even the adaptation of the room 41, where the works of Botticelli have spent the last few months and were admired by some two million visitors.
The new room
This major project will completely renovate the Uffizi’s Botticelli room. The large space that houses all the Botticelli collection, as well as masterpieces by Pollaiolo, will be divided into two rooms and each painting will be carefully examined and restored.
State of the art technology will be installed to protect the artworks, including new protective glass and a new laser alarm system.
