FLORENCE, ITALY – Italian Police arrested a Senegalese drug dealer, 27, in connection with death of American artist Ashley Olsen, murdered in Florence. Her body was found in Florence apartment by her boyfriend last Saturday.

Senegalese male is accused of aggravated murder. The man is reportedly known to the Florentine police as a drug dealer and is understood to have been seen with her on CCTV outside her apartment.

The detained man is Cheik Diaw, a 27-year-old undocumented Senegalese migrant known to the police for drugs-related issues.

The man said he did not have the intention to kill. The two guys – he told – have had sex but then they quarreled. He pushed her and she hit her head.

Prosecutors said Ashley Olsen had two fractures to her skull, which suggested the homicide was carried out in two stages, first with a blow to the head and then via strangulation. The man was held on the basis of DNA evidence taken at the crime scene.

Olsen, originally from Florida, was living in Florence where her father, an architect, works at an art school.
