FLORENCE, ITALY – Only 6,000 tickets have been sold for the match which will be played tonight (September 3, 2015) in Florence for the Euro 2016 qualifier between the national soccer teams Italy and Malta.
It ‘s new chapter of the little love between the Azzurri and the city of Florence, since decades home of the training center in Coverciano. For Prime Minister Matteo Renzi it was the opportunity to meet the Maltese premier Joseph Muscat and speak about a new idea of Europe: “We must recover a European ideal which is not that of receiving everyone indiscriminately, because it isn’t possible, but trying to save everyone, and that is a duty”, Renzi said.
With regard to the soccer game, however, the Italy coach Antonio Conte is banking on free-scoring Sampdoria striker Eder to help the Azzurri into Euro 2016 against Malta and Bulgaria.
Conte noted that Eder had already scored four goals for Samp this season. He is expected to form an attacking partnership with Southampton’s Graziano Pellé, who Conte said had already “impressed” in the Premier League. Italy play Malta tonight before meeting Bulgaria next week.
