FLORENCE, ITALY – Sandro Botticelli’s famous Annunciation of St. Martin alla Scala will not be travelling to Israel for a planned months-long exhibition as previously announced, the culture ministry said last week.
The work, housed in Florence’s Uffizi Gallery, would not be moved due to the political instability in Middle East. Renaissance master Botticelli’s 15th-century work was to have been loaned to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem for several months starting September 17. The loan was organized by the Uffizi Gallery and the Italy-Israel Foundation for Culture and the Arts.
