Pieroni, painter and architect of Medici

FLORENCE, ITALY – The project La Città degli Uffizi has as inspiration the showing artists of the famous gallery in their original places. At Impruneta there is an exhibition dedicated to its illustrious citizen Alessandro Pieroni, painter and architect of the court of the Medici and with him on display are the painters who were at his side in a grotesque decoration of the loggia of the Uffizi: Alessandro Allori, Giovanni Bizzelli, Giovanmaria Butteri, Ludovico Buti and Cigoli.

The exhibition aims to let the public discover the eclectic personality of this artist, who played an important role in the last decades of the sixteenth century in Florence, by presenting his paintings, graphics and architecture.

Remarkable is the fact that his work as an architect, included the facade planned of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Chapel of the Princes, the Corsini Chapel in the Carmine, many churches in Pisa, Volterra and the late sixteenth century restructuring of city of Livorno.

There will be side events that will accompany the exhibition, concerning the furnace and carpenters at Impruneta during the time of Pieroni, at the recently renovated Agresti Furnace, a journey through the most beautiful historical and artistic period works of the territory.
