September Feasts on the hills of Florence

poggio-a-caianoFLORENCE, ITALY – There a lot of September Feasts on the hills of Florence, Italy. The Siege of Villa Medici (28th edition) in Poggio a Caiano want to celebrate the commemoration of the stop at Villa Medicea made by the Princess Joan of Austria on her way to marry Grand Duke Francesco I de’ Medici in 1565.

In honor of Saint Michael, patron saint of Carmignano, it will celebrate in three evenings the Saint Michael Feast. Every evening local districts will perform with parades of allegorical floats and the famous Donkey Race. From 28th until 30th September – Carmignano. The last day it will decree the winner for the parade and for the race.

From September the 1st to the 9th in Bacchereto (Carmignano) it returns the appointment with the Fig’s Feast, reached the 36th edition which, as always, will take place at the Polisportiva of Bacchereto (Carmignano).

For all the feast’s duration there will be a great gastronomic stand with delicious local dishes. The typical dish of the Feast obviously will be the fig, accompanied by various cold cuts.
