Tricolor rose for the Int’l Women’s Day
Rose tricolor planted in Florence on the occasion of International Women’s Day to say no to all forms of violence against the female gender. The flowers, a special variety invented last year by the florist Antonio Marchese to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian women, will be planted on 8 March.
Removed the disputed fountain in Piazza Signoria

Uffizi, free entrance for women on March 8
On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8: free entrance for women to all public art sites as Uffizi or Galleria dell’Accademia. But from 17 January 2012, for a period of approximately three months, the Chapter Room, in the Uffizi gallery, with the fresco of the Crucifixion by Beato Angelico, will be closed to the public for extraordinary maintenance work.
