Juventus, the definitive test after a bad season

FLORENCE, ITALY – This is what coach Delio Rossi had to say in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Juventus. The interview is taken from Viola channel.

How are Behrami and Jovetic? “We’ll see after the last training session, but more no than yes.”

Do you sense how important this game against the Bianconeri is? “It’s a big game for our fans. Tomorrow we must show our pride and try to play the perfect game.”

Are you concerned by the choice of referee? “I’m aware of these situations, but I’m a football coach and my job is to focus on the pitch. It’s up to the club to deal with such matters. Giving my opinion on it could create excuses.”

Have you thought about what is needed to avoid the drop? “I’ve always said this would be a strange season. But tomorrow is a different sort of game and it’s got nothing to do with the league position.”

Do the players realise what Fiorentina v Juventus means for this city? “A professional footballer must understand the environment he works in.”

Will Nastasic start ahead of Gamberini? “I haven’t decided yet. And if that were to happen, it would be no big deal.”

Can Cerci and Vargas have a decisive role to play? “They are playing well. I saw that in Catania. Perhaps they just need to play a tiny bit more for the team.”

Antonio Conte? “He’s had an incredible career. You can see that Juventus is the dream job for him. He’s learnt the ropes and paid his dues.”

Would Juventus be worthy Scudetto winners? “Yes, you only have to look at the players they’ve brought in. You don’t go and change 10 or 12 players unless you have big plans in mind.”

If you were to win tomorrow, would you consider taking a dip in the river Arno? “When I was in Rome I only made a promise; it wasn’t connected to a specific game.”

Will Pirlo have to be man-marked? “I don’t have the ideal player to mark Pirlo out of the game. We’ll be wary of him but I also want to go for it and try and win the match.”

Do you have a message for the 30,000 fans who will be at the stadium tomorrow? “I’m not one to preach to people. They have to help provide the wind for our sails but we must carry the fans along with us.”

Which teams risks more: Fiorentina or Juventus? “If we play it without thinking about the league, Juventus risk more.”

Is Nastasic an atypical athlete – in a good sense? “He’s just normal. The rule isn’t to break the rules. A professional must look after his body.”
