Snow blanketed the center of Florence

SnowSnow blanketed Florence and Italy on Wednesday morning. According to the forecast, it will be the coldest week in 27 years, forcing the closure of tracts of motorway and schools in some municipalities.

 In Florence, the mayor Matteo Renzi has not given the order to close schools.

The perturbation, coming from Great Britain with cold air, have reached the Italian Country and to cause a phase of perturbed weather in particular on Northern-Western of the Peninsula and on most part of the central regions where will be precipitations with snowy aspect.

New alert forecast for snow, ice and strong winds up to 23.59 on Thursday 2 February. Currently there are mild and sporadic snowfall concentrated in particular areas on the Apennines.

Outlook: snow in gradual dimming phenomena. From this afternoon the snow only on the Apennines; temperatures in sharp decline. The “Operations room” of Regione Toscana announced the alert status indicating that the expected level of criticality is moderate.
