Brunelleschi’s Dome, summit of Int’l experts

The “Opera of Santa Maria del Fiore”, in accordance with the Architectural and Landscape Heritage Office of Florence and Pistoia, held on Thursday 19 and Friday January 20 at the OPA Art and Culture Center a meeting of international experts to present for the first time the data for the past 60 years of monitoring of Brunelleschi’s Dome.

The dome of Florence is a complex system subject to slow evolution of injury, for this reason it is controlled by mechanical means since 1952 and by an electronic system installed by the Ministry of Culture since 1978.

This system can be considered most accurate existing today in the world of a monumental complex.

In the last year the electronic system is monitoring the recent also the Cathedral, the Baptistery and Giotto’s bell tower.
