Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti will visit the EUI this Thursday 6 September, to open the meeting of the Presidency of the European People’s Party in Florence. Monti’s opening address will be streamed live and accessible to all. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 13.00. Watch the event here. The 2012 edition of The State of the Union, organised by the European University Institute, is hosted in the Florence City Hall. The Conference takes place on 9-10 May. It aims at contributing to the analysis and debate of the European Union’s current situation, EU policies and the functioning of EU institutions and it brings together high-level policy-makers, leading academics and opinion leaders.
Speaking at the European University Institute in Fiesole (Florence), German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said: “We have shown a lot of solidarity with Greece. Everyone knows the real problems of Greek society are in Greece and not to be found abroad.” He currently serving as the Federal Minister of Finance in the Second Cabinet Merkel.
On 7 March Wolfgang Schäuble, German Minister of Finance, will give a lecture on “Europe – Economic and Institutional Perspectives”. The lecture and debate are organised in the framework of the EUI’s Debating Europe series and will take place in the Refectory of the Badia Fiesolana, on Wednesday 7 March at 19:15.
The International Conference on the European Energy Market, EEM12, is a premier forum for the exchange of ideas, open and direct discussion on the development of the energy markets in Europe. In 2012 this event is hosted in Florence, Italy, by the two energy policy units at the European University Institute.
Participants and observers of the Hungarian constitution making process will come to the EUI to discuss the making of the Hungarian Constitution. The roundtable discussion will focus on fundamental issues linked to the Hungarian Constitution: the Fundamental Law of Hungary that went into force on 1 January 2012 has attracted a great deal of criticism and debate worldwide.
