FLORENCE, ITALY – From 10 to 12 March, the Pitti Immagine fair dedicated to the excellences of taste returns to the Stazione Leopolda in Florence: with growing numbers and a focus on Foraging, the contemporary trend of gathering wild plants and using them in the kitchen.
Now a reference event for its vast public of sector professionals and gourmands, Taste showcases the latest ideas of the 400 participating companies (a rise in the numbers with respect to the 380 exhibitors at the last edition), a selection of the best Italian names in quality cuisine and contemporary food and wine specialties – as well as food & kitchen design items, clothing and technical equipment for the kitchen, all accompanied by a “dressing” of presentations, events and debates on the most contemporary table-related topics.
New and providing the theme for this edition is the in-depth look at Foraging which will inspire the layout and atmosphere of the fair, a term which means looking for, recognizing, gathering and cooking wild plants.
Every new edition of Taste is a journey surrounded by food, wine, objects and ideas, a discovery tour of the many dimensions in which we express and experiment with taste today. With an enthralling and atmospheric layout curated by Alessandro Moradei and, at the end of the itinerary, a special space – the Taste Shop – where it is possible to buy the products on display.
“Taste is continually searching for new ideas and challenges” says Agostino Poletto, general manager of Pitti Immagine. “This thirteenth rendezvous once again registers an increase in the number of companies – with numerous participation requests received from all over Italy – so that at every edition we can offer new products, new curiosities and new stories for our public of international buyers and enthusiasts. A growth that, in any case, maintains a good dosage of the ingredients of quality and selection, aiming for a balance between the various product typologies and the core elements of the fair which have long been its keynotes. And then there are the new challenges in unearthing the themes and strong trends in contemporary food. Because this is also the spirit of Taste: to continually add new facets to contemporary lifestyles”.
Tha Tase menu is 390 companies selected from amongst the best niche and specialist producers from all over Italy. Once again, at this edition the itinerary will be enriched by the new zone in the Alcatraz area;
- Taste Tools, a selection of brands with their food & kitchen design items, clothing, technical equipment and innovative ideas for the kitchen;
- Taste shop, in Piazzale Gae Aulenti, the store where it is possible to buy the products displayed – and studied in more detail – along the tasting itinerary. At the last edition the shop displayed 2,180 products, with 43,000 articles in the catalogue, and sold over 20,200 items;
- Taste ring, the cultural-gastronomic arena orchestrated by the Gastronaut Davide Paolini. Inside the space in the Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze the protagonists of the world of food will tackle the hottest topics associated with the contemporary table;
- Taste Events: the space in the Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze is the stage for a rich program of events – exhibitions, book presentations, tasting sessions – as well as the Rings and the area reserved for VIP Buyers.
And at this edition the Taste Events area will also feature the special participation of SchoenhuberFranchi, a company dealing in accessories for the table and high-quality furnishings for catering and hotel environments.
Inside the foyer of the Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze, the protagonists of the world of food will tackle the hottest topics linked to contemporary cuisine. As usual, the moderator par excellence will be the Gastronaut Davide Paolini.
In addition to the events at the Stazione Leopolda, Taste is also the packed calendar of flavoursome events that encompass the whole city during the fair. Every season FuoriDiTaste manages to light up Florence and its most famous and curious venues with dinners, themed tasting sessions, installations, shows and performances, talks and new and enjoyable ways of interpreting food. A crammed program of successful events that involve a growing number of participants and reserve lots of surprises every year.

To facilitate working the fair, Taste has set aside a dedicated time frame just for members of the trade: the morning of SATURDAY 10 and SUNDAY 11 MARCH, from 9.30 A.M. to 2.30 P.M.
The fair is also open to the general public from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. on these days and from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday 12 March.
