ACF Fiorentina have signed 2006 World Cup winner Luca Toni in the last hours of the Serie A trading. The Tuscan team was looking for a new striker and the 35-year-old centre-forward was available on a free transfer. Toni, also linked with Spanish club Malaga this summer, recently left Al Nasr following his 2012 January switch from Juventus.

Fulham bid to trump Fiorentina for Berbatov
Juventus have jumped into pole position to buy Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United, following Fiorentina earlier agreeing a fee with the Red Devils for the Bulgarian striker. Berbatov, who had flown to Munich to then catch an onward flight to Florence, did not make his connection and instead has remained in Germany while Juventus bid to agree a deal with Manchester United.
Frecciarossa, two new daily trips Florence-Milan
Florence and Milan sre getting closer and closer with Frecciarossa. Two new daily trips during peak hours, with an intermediate stop in Bologna, connecting from 9 September the two capitals of Italian fashion. The new trains bring to 45 the numbers of Frecciarossa daily connections between the two cities, with more than 25,000 seats total available.

OSCE PA President’s statement on Syria
“The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly reiterates its concern over the ongoing repression in Syria. In particular, the Assembly stresses the need and urgency for genuine international support to Turkey, which is nearly on its last legs in efforts to rescue increasing and unmanageable numbers of Syrian refugees,” said Riccardo Migliori, the first Italian elected president of the 56-country OSCE Parliamentary Assembly last July.
Gas prices above 2 Euros per liter in Tuscany
Gas prices in Italy, as in many parts of the world, have risen again with many parts of the country showing record highs. Tuscany is the first region for the average price of “super”. It has reached 2 euro per liter last week for the first time ever. The increased cost in Tuscany is due to a regional tax that will be used to pay flood damages and the island of Elba and in Lunigiana last winter.
Frecciarossa 1000, a 400 km/h Italian jewel
The new Frecciarossa 1000 aroused great curiosity among the visitors of the Meeting of Rimini, after the unveiling of the mock up on the evening of August 19 by the Premier Mario Monti. After Rimini, the first sight of the Frecciarossa 1000 road show will be Berlin, September 18. Next steps: Milan (October 2012), Naples (November 2012), Rome (December 2012) and 2013 Bologna and Florence.
